Cookie Policy

This page lists the cookies and similar technologies used on justranks.com and in the JustRanks application, and explains why they are used.
What we use
JustRanks only uses cookies and browser storage that are strictly necessary to provide the service you request: keeping you signed in, protecting sign-in forms from bots, and remembering choices you make in the app. We do not use advertising, analytics or social media cookies, and no third party sets tracking cookies through our website.
Storing and reading this information on your device is permitted without consent because it is strictly necessary for a service you have explicitly requested (Section 25(2) no. 2 of the German TDDDG, which implements Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive). We still show a cookie notice on your first visit, so that you can see what we use and control it, and so that any non-essential tool we may add later runs only with your consent. Any personal data involved is processed as described in our Privacy Policy.

Browser storage
The app also remembers some display choices in your browser's local storage, which stays on your device and is not sent to us automatically:
- display preferences, for example folded or compact views, sidebar tag filters and settings of the signals view (keys starting with
justranks:orjr-); - notices and hints you have dismissed, so they do not come back.
Session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab, holds an API key you enter in the API playground and a note that your time zone has already been sent. You can delete all of this at any time in your browser settings.
Bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)
Sign-up, sign-in, password reset, invitations, the enterprise contact form and some free tools are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. When you use these forms, a Cloudflare script checks signals from your browser to tell humans from bots. According to Cloudflare, Turnstile does not use cookies for this and the data is not used for advertising. The check is necessary to protect your account and our service from automated abuse.
Checkout (Paddle)
When you open our checkout page to buy a subscription, the checkout of our Merchant of Record, Paddle, is loaded. Paddle may store information in your browser that is needed to complete the purchase and to prevent fraud. This happens only on the checkout page. Details are in Paddle's privacy policy.
Error monitoring
Our error monitoring (Sentry) reports technical errors from your browser to us. It does not set cookies or use browser storage.
Your choice
Our cookie notice lets you accept or reject optional categories (analytics and marketing). Today we use neither, so your choice only applies to tools we may add in the future. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off, because the service would not work without them. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a rejection of marketing.
