Keywords that aren't in the database yet
If a keyword is missing from the database, you can add it. It is captured right away and then on the same schedule as every other keyword, for you and for everyone else.
The database is large, but no list covers every search term. When you search a keyword JustRanks has never captured, its chip is marked, and a box above the results offers to add it.
Adding a keyword
Choose Add … to the database. The keyword is captured right away instead of waiting for the night, and first results usually appear within the hour. From then on it is captured every two days like every other keyword, or every day while it is part of one of your markets.
You can also skip this step: when you save a market, any of its keywords that are missing are added automatically.
It becomes part of the database
An added keyword is not private. It joins the shared database and is captured for every customer who searches it. Nobody else can see who added it.
What counts as a keyword
A keyword has to look like something a shopper would type: it needs at least one letter, and it cannot be an ASIN or a web address. A chip that does not qualify says "This doesn't look like a search term."
How many you can add
You can add keywords within a fair-use limit per rolling 24 hours. Keywords that are already in the database never count against it.
When you reach the limit, the box tells you. If you save a market with more missing keywords than you have left, the ones over the limit are not saved with it.
History starts with the first capture
A keyword you add has no past in the database. Its history begins with its first capture, so trends and comparisons fill in over the following days.
