Your first week
The first capture runs the moment you save. Movement needs a second day, and a few numbers need about a week before they mean anything.
JustRanks measures change over time, so the first days look different from every day after. Here is what arrives when.
Straight away — the first capture
Creating a market starts a capture immediately. It works through your keywords, then collects the details of the products it found, and you can watch it progress.
When it finishes you have a complete inventory of the market: every product on the page for each of your keywords, your own position, who ranks above you, their prices, ratings, reviews and badges.
What you do not have yet is movement. Every trend, every arrow and every delta compares two points in time, and right now there is one.
The next day — movement begins
From the second capture on, the comparisons start working: position changes, visibility trends, competitors gaining or losing ground. Signals — the automatic notices about what changed in your market — need this history too, so the first ones arrive here rather than on day one.
From then on the market is captured once a day, automatically. You can choose which hour that happens — see When your markets are captured.
Over the first week — the numbers settle
Two things change quietly during the first week.
The competitor set narrows. At first JustRanks tracks every product that appears on your keywords, so it can see the whole field. As the market settles it concentrates on the products that actually compete with you. Which competitors you track explains how that selection works.
The Sponsored Score appears. Advertising is volatile from one day to the next, so this number needs several days of measurement before it says anything. Until then it reads "Building baseline". See Building baseline.
Volatility behaves the same way — a market cannot be called calm or turbulent from two days of data.
A note on the trial
Your trial runs 14 days, which is deliberately longer than the week the data needs to become meaningful. By the time you decide, you are looking at a settled market rather than a first snapshot.
